Cat's Paw Nebula
NGC 6334, The Cat's Paw Nebula, is about 5,500 light-years away from Earth, in the direction of the constellation Scorpius (the Scorpion). It extends about 50 light-years across, and covers an area on the sky slightly larger than the full moon.
"NGC 6334 is one of the most active nurseries of massive stars in our galaxy," researchers said in a European Southern Observatory statement.
